Avraam Even-Shoshan (Rosenstein; 25 decembrie 1906, Minsk \u2013 8 august 1984, Ierusalim) s-a n\u0103scut \u00eentr-o familie lui Chaim-David Rosenstein \u0219i Roza Finkel. Tat\u0103l lui Avraam, fondatorul primei institu\u021bii educa\u021bionale de tip \u201eheder metukan\u201d (heder reformat) din Minsk \u0219i autor de manuale \u0219i c\u0103r\u021bi de rug\u0103ciuni, era cunoscut ca scriitor pentru copii \u00een ebraic\u0103. Cunoa\u0219terea str\u0103lucit\u0103 a limbii ebraice nu i-a venit lui Avraam de la sine \u2013 dragostea pentru aceast\u0103 limb\u0103 a fost cultivat\u0103 \u00een casa p\u0103rin\u021bilor s\u0103i. Chaim-David a combinat dragostea pentru r\u0103d\u0103cinile poporului s\u0103u \u0219i cultura sa, cunoa\u0219terea literaturii ebraice cu devotamentul fa\u021b\u0103 de mi\u0219carea sionist\u0103 recent ap\u0103rut\u0103, condus\u0103 de Herzl.<\/p>\n

Din acest motiv, \u00eenc\u0103 fiind un copil, Avraam s-a al\u0103turat organiza\u021biei sioniste \u201eHe-Halutz\u201d. El dorea s\u0103 se repatrieze \u00een \u021aara Israelului pentru a participa personal la dezvoltarea ei, \u0219i imediat ce i s-a oferit aceast\u0103 oportunitate \u00een 1925, a l\u0103sat \u00een urm\u0103 casa p\u0103rinteasc\u0103 \u0219i Minskul familiar «p\u00e2n\u0103 la lacrimi». Dar \u00een r\u00e2ndul evreilor ashkenazi din acea vreme, trandafirul era numit \u201eshoshana\u201d. Iar \u201estein\u201d \u2013 piatr\u0103, a r\u0103mas \u201eeven\u201d. Astfel a ap\u0103rut numele de familie Even-Shoshan, cunoscut ast\u0103zi de fiecare israelian care vorbe\u0219te ebraica. Tzvi, fratele mai mare al lui Avraam, a devenit un cunoscut lider sindical, iar cel mai mic \u2013 Shlomo, un cunoscut traduc\u0103tor din rus\u0103 \u00een ebraic\u0103.<\/p>\n

Dar aceasta se va \u00eent\u00e2mpla peste ani; \u00eentre timp, Avraam a terminat cu succes mai \u00eent\u00e2i seminarul pedagogic din Ierusalim \u0219i apoi (\u00een 1943) Universitatea Evreiasc\u0103. C\u00e2\u0219tig\u00e2ndu-\u0219i traiul lucr\u00e2nd ca educator, a dedicat tot timpul liber scrisului literar. A publicat at\u00e2t de mult \u00een revista pentru copii «Itonenu», \u00eenc\u00e2t pentru o perioad\u0103 \u00een anii ’30, a devenit chiar editorul s\u0103u \u0219ef. A scris poezii, povestiri \u0219i piese de teatru pentru copii, dar \u0219i c\u0103r\u021bi \u0219tiin\u021bifice-populare. Avraam s-a dedicat \u00een mod special traducerii celor mai bune c\u0103r\u021bi pentru copii din alte limbi \u00een ebraic\u0103 — englez\u0103, german\u0103. A tradus mult \u0219i din rus\u0103 — \u00een acei ani, \u00een URSS, au fost publicate c\u0103r\u021bi minunate pentru copii.<\/p>\n

Avraam s-a dovedit a fi nu doar un scriitor \u0219i traduc\u0103tor excelent, ci \u0219i un profesor. A avut o carier\u0103 rapid\u0103 \u0219i a fost directorul mai multor \u0219coli timp de mul\u021bi ani. \u00centre 1954 \u0219i 1968 a condus colegiul pedagogic din Ierusalim, iar \u00eentre 1951 \u0219i 1954 a fost \u0219eful departamentului de limb\u0103 ebraic\u0103 \u00een Ministerul Educa\u021biei.<\/p>\n

Dar faima \u0219i popularitatea na\u021bional\u0103 i-au fost aduse de munca sa ca lexicograf. \u00cenc\u0103 din anii ’30 a \u00eenceput s\u0103 lucreze la un nou dic\u021bionar de ebraic\u0103 modern\u0103, rezult\u00e2nd o edi\u021bie \u00een cinci volume \u00eentre 1947-1958. \u00centre 1966 \u0219i 1971 a ap\u0103rut edi\u021bia \u00een \u0219apte volume. Dic\u021bionarul Even-Shoshan a fost imediat acceptat cu entuziasm de publicul larg din Israel. \u0218i nu este \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103tor \u2013 nu existase nimic similar \u00een ebraica, \u00eembog\u0103\u021bit\u0103 cu vocabularul modern \u0219i neologismele care au f\u0103cut-o un limbaj de conversa\u021bie viu. Acest dic\u021bionar a fost publicat \u0219i reeditat de zeci de ori \u00een diferite formate \u0219i a stat la baza dic\u021bionarelor de traducere, inclusiv dic\u021bionarul ebraic\u0103-rus\u0103 Shapiro, publicat \u00een URSS \u00een 1963. \u00cen 1978, Even-Shoshan a primit Premiul de Stat al Israelului, a devenit laureat al Premiului Bialik \u0219i a fost ales membru corespunz\u0103tor al Academiei Limbii Ebraice. \u00cen activitatea sa, organiza\u021bia \u201eNativ\u201d acord\u0103 o aten\u021bie special\u0103 limbii ebraice, consider\u00e2nd-o una dintre cele mai puternice leg\u0103turi \u00eentre evreii din diaspor\u0103 \u0219i cultura \u0219i mo\u0219tenirea na\u021bional\u0103. \u00cen toate centrele culturale \u201eNativ\u201d func\u021bioneaz\u0103 ulpanim (cursuri) pentru \u00eenv\u0103\u021barea limbii ebraice, \u00een care predau profesori experimenta\u021bi. \u201eNativ\u201d, \u00eempreun\u0103 cu Ministerul Educa\u021biei din Israel, \u00eembun\u0103t\u0103\u021be\u0219te constant calitatea muncii ulpanim-urilor. Astfel, \u00een iulie, la Moscova, a avut loc un seminar de patru zile pentru profesorii ulpanim-urilor, av\u00e2nd ca scop \u00eembun\u0103t\u0103\u021birea nivelului de predare a ebraicii \u00een centrele \u201eNativ\u201d.<\/p>\n
