P\u0103rin\u021bii ei, Meir \u0219i Rivka Sapir, au emigrat din Vilnius \u00een anii 1920, fiind membri ai mi\u0219c\u0103rii sioniste muncitore\u0219ti \u0219i s-au cunoscut \u00een kibbutz. Dar eforturile au meritat! Succesele lui Naomi la aceste lec\u021bii au fost at\u00e2t de evidente \u00eenc\u00e2t nu mai existau \u00eendoeili cu privire la ceea ce va ocupa \u00een via\u021b\u0103. Dup\u0103 absolvirea liceului, Naomi a intrat la Academia de Muzic\u0103 din Ierusalim \u0219i, dup\u0103 ce a terminat studiile, s-a \u00eentors \u00een kibbutz pentru a preda muzic\u0103 copiilor. Naomi a avut o influen\u021b\u0103 colosal\u0103 asupra culturii muzicale israeliene, cre\u00e2nd hituri populare, c\u00e2ntece pentru copii \u0219i un ciclu de c\u00e2ntece pentru toate s\u0103rb\u0103torile evreie\u0219ti. \u00cen 1983 i-a fost acordat Premiul Israel pentru contribu\u021bia sa la cultura \u021b\u0103rii. <\/p>\n<p>Unele dintre c\u00e2ntecele lui Naomi Shemer au devenit simboluri ale evenimentelor din istoria Israelului modern. Cel mai celebru dintre acestea este \u201eIerusalim de Aur\u201d. Iat\u0103 \u00een c\u00e2teva cuvinte povestea crea\u021biei sale. Pentru un concert festiv dedicat Zilei Independen\u021bei din 1967, conducerea \u201eVocea Israelului\u201d i-a propus lui Naomi s\u0103 scrie un c\u00e2ntec despre Ierusalim. Sarcina nu a fost deloc simpl\u0103 \u2013 de-a lungul istoriei a exilului evreiesc, acestui ora\u0219 i-au fost dedicate poezii de mul\u021bi poe\u021bi evrei remarcabili \u0219i Naomi nu putea alege una singur\u0103. Dilema ei era at\u00e2t de serioas\u0103 \u00eenc\u00e2t a cerut conducerii radioului s\u0103 anuleze comanda pentru crea\u021bia c\u00e2ntecului. Din fericire, directorul radioului a insistat, \u0219i la un moment dat Naomi a decis c\u0103 va scrie ea \u00eens\u0103\u0219i versurile. C\u00e2ntecul a fost interpretat la concertul festiv \u0219i a f\u0103cut senza\u021bie.
