Fondat\u0103 \u00een data de 6 februarie 1915, a fost distrus\u0103 de turci la sf\u00e2r\u0219itul anului 1917. \u0218eful Serviciului de Informa\u021bii Militare Britanice, generalul George MacDonough, a declarat \u00een 1919 c\u0103 cucerirea cu succes a Palestinei de c\u0103tre trupele britanice, care se afla sub domina\u021bia Imperiului Otoman, s-a datorat faptului c\u0103 comandantul lor, generalul Allenby cuno\u0219tea \u00een detaliu toate preg\u0103tirile \u0219i mi\u0219c\u0103rile inamicului datorit\u0103 informa\u021biilor de spionaj. NILI nu s-a limitat doar la activit\u0103\u021bile de spionaj. \u00cen aprilie 1917, autorit\u0103\u021bile turce\u0219ti au deportat evreii din Jaffa \u0219i Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n

NILI a interpretat aceast\u0103 ac\u021biune drept \u00eenceputul unui genocid similar cu cel pe care turcii l-au comis \u00eempotriva armenilor \u0219i a transmis imediat informa\u021bii despre acest lucru mass-mediei interna\u021bionale. Ca urmare a protestelor care au urmat \u00een mai multe \u021b\u0103ri (inclusiv \u00een Germania, aliat\u0103 a Turciei), guvernul Imperiului Otoman a redus semnificativ represiunile \u00eempotriva popula\u021biei evreie\u0219ti din Eretz Israel.<\/p>\n
